Help Advance our Mission

The United States Golf Association

The USGA is a non-profit organization that advances, serves and celebrates the game of golf.

Founded in 1894, the USGA conducts many of golf’s premier professional and amateur championships, governs the sport via a global set of playing, equipment, handicapping and amateur status rules, is home to the Association’s Research and Test Center, where science and innovation are fueling a healthy and sustainable game for the future and curates the world’s most comprehensive archive of golf artifacts at the USGA Golf Museum and Library.

Our mission: Champion and advance the game of golf to ensure a thriving, welcoming and sustainable future.

The USGA Foundation serves as the member engagement and philanthropic giving program within the USGA. It secures resources to fulfill the USGA’s commitment to invest in programs and innovative solutions that best serve golf for all who love and play it. To support our mission, become a USGA Member and/or donate today.

Foundation Priorities

Providing pathways to the Game

The USGA invests in programs designed to foster a more welcoming and inclusive game by expanding access, interest, and opportunities for all golfers. The First Tee, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, and Drive, Chip and Putt programs provide greater access for juniors and cultivate a lifelong passion for the game.

Investing in future talent

In 2023 the USGA launched the U.S. National Development Program (USNDP). The country’s first unified pathway to nurture the potential of America’s top young golfers through competitive opportunities, mentorship, and training. The USNDP Grant program financially assists identified recipients with entry fees, travel, coaching costs and more.

Celebrating History

The USGA Golf Museum and Library connects golfers, sports fans, and scholars with one of a kind artifacts, images, and stories chronicling golf’s rich history. The opening of the USGA Welcome Center and World Golf Hall of Fame in Pinehurst, N.C. expands its reach even further.

Inspiring Greatness

USGA Championships, especially our ten amateur competitions and the U.S. Adaptive Open, are a platform for showcasing the strength, perseverance, sportsmanship, and athletic and competitive spirit that all golfers hold dear. Providing a secure future for these championships is a top priority for the USGA.
